Here's a link to Svalgaard's recent paper which argues that the historical reconstruction by NOAA of the solar activity as measured by TSI is wrong (mostly on the low side) for years prior to 1978. www.leif.org/research/EUV-Magnetic-Field.ppt

The solar cycle is in good decline. If the recent cooling we have been seeing is related to this it is pretty timely. The ocean adjusts slowly with a momentum estimated to be 8 to 15 years for full adjustment in the mixing zone above the thermocline. With 316 years of warming in the books since the LIA there is a significant momentum from the other 95% of the ocean below the thermocline but nobody has an estimate of how great that is. So if the sun has a strong effect beyond the minimal effects generally accepted by the alarmist community its now time we should be seeing some of them. The solar index is now below 50% of its historic average value and should remain there for perhaps the next 6 years.

This showed up on our Solarcycle24 companion thread. Interesting times. Another factor to throw into your equation Code??? Better than reality TV for sure ... but not for the instant gratification crowd. www.landscheidt.info/?q=node/337

My major was as far away from math as possible and is closer to fraud , deception and obfuscation. Timeshare salesman??? Just kidding of course.

For those with the time that are interested in solar mechanics, here is a video from the 2009 AGU meeting. Haven't finished it, but the first presentation provided a useful overview. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pihNCFj_TMFrom the 2nd presentation I was struck by the following graph ... the long convex slope from 5500 BC peaks in about 100 AD and declines thereafter. Does this mean that following our current 100-year solar maximum we are unlikely to return to a comparable period for quite some time as we are on the downward sloping flank of the curve. I would think that would be of interest to our leaders as we, as a civilization, look to the future. The entire timeline of the sum of all our civilizations occupies a 'grand bump' along the path of solar time.

I don't think so - you cannot tax the Sun, therefore zero interest. You may find that they are buying 'holiday homes' well outside the areas covered by the Laurentide ice sheet though
