What do your analogs say for June in southern and central Europe? Shorts and t-shirts OR thermals and rain gear? Am I going to freeze on those Croatian ferries come the end of May? Need I even ask about Wales? youtu.be/b7QIoVyxWvELooked at the spring and summer analogs provided by gavs weather, months that have behaved similarly to the last few under similar enso and solar conditions place the jetstream to the south with troughs over Europe. Not a particularly wet signal, but cloudy and cooler airmasses. I'd pack more long sleeves and trousers then if expecting blazing sunshine, shorts/t-shirts/flip flops are cheap in Croatia in any case 😉 Wales may require jumpers.... Thank you. Very "light" weight thermal unders with a light waterproof - windproof shell should do the trick. Under and over can be worn with anything in between and shed as required. Currently, everything not being worn fits in a backpackable carry on. Sounds like Wales might require a bigger bag.

The North Wales mountains are very tempting hills to walk on - but the weather can change extremely rapidly from warm to heavy hill fog, rain or even snow at this time of year. We got very used to rescuing poorly prepared tourists from 'the hill' when I was at RAF Valley where they had mountain rescue and rescue helicopters. It was almost routine as was rescuing people on inflatable mattresses being blown out into the Irish Sea. So if you do decide to wander up that nice looking path near Llanberis do remember to take cold weather gear and some survival food and drink with you and do not wear jeans they wick up water very rapidly - not good in gale blown drizzle

I was in Cornwall last August, people walking the coast path were wearing fleeces and bergaus jackets. Me and the family were on the beach in wetsuits, had the whole beach pretty much to ourselves! Bit of a luck of the draw really, it was really grim last year, but nothing indicates this year won't be too 😔

If we stick to the Med, I can leave the Alaska survival book at home ... along with the extra luggage. Alaska guide books recommend that tourists hiking in the "bush" wear bells (to warn the bears), carry pepper spray and learn to differentiate black bear scat from grizzly bear scat. This can be done with a visual examination. Black bear scat is full of little berries. Grizzly bear scat is full of little bells and smells like pepper.

It looks like we may soon be able to see a real world test of Svensmark's theories on galactic cosmic rays seeding clouds... "In their study, recently published in the journal Space Weather, the researchers found that large fluxes in Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCR) are rising faster and are on path to exceed any other recorded time in the space age. They also point out that one of the most significant Solar Energetic Particle (SEP) events happened in September 2017 releasing large doses of radiation that could pose significant risk to both humans and satellites. Unshielded astronauts could experience acute effects like radiation sickness or more serious long-term health issues like cancer and organ damage, including to the heart, brain, and central nervous system. In 2014, Schwadron and his team predicted around a 20 percent increase in radiation dose rates from one solar minimum to the next. Four years later, their newest research shows current conditions exceed their predictions by about 10 percent, showing the radiation environment is worsening even more than expected"wattsupwiththat.com/2018/03/17/as-an-historic-solar-minimum-approaches-space-radiation-becoming-more-hazardous/

What worries me is the manperson hours wasted developing acronyms.

The condition of the sun has been ignored by climate scientists for decades. Climate is NOT all about CO2. In a chaotic system, the slight variation in light bands and their effect on climate needs further research.
