Referring back to Ratty's SST pic [wish I knew how to do that on this site], it appears that there is a large cold blob in the middle of the Atlantic. This suggests a weak North Atlantic Drift. In turn this implies much colder European winter(s). You would think, however last year the 'cold blob' was much more pronounced, yet we had one of the warmest Decembers evah (uk) Very meridional last year though.... (incidentally, those animations I did last year got picked up by on line news outlets and went to 9000 views about this time last year, was quite pleased!) Try here for pasting images Douglavers solarcycle24com.proboards.com/thread/2578/trouble?page=3It can be easy.....but can also be a pain in the butt......

On Oct. 1, Fort St. John received 23 centimetres of snow, The old record for the day was six centimetres set in 1954. "This is probably the most severe one-off weather condition that I can remember in the last 40 years," said Rick Kantz, president of the B.C. Grain Producers Association.

If it's an anomaly, it's weather. If it becomes the norm, it's climate.
