I used to have ammo and implements for the use thereof ...... And there are many here who hate The U.S. Constitution because it contains the 2nd amendment.

I tell my progressive friends who want to ban guns in the US that the process is simple: Article V of the US Constitution provides the framework for adding or deleting a provision. Pass a bill proposing to remove the 2nd from the Constitution. Remember you have to have a 2/3 majority in both houses of Congress to do that. Next, get the legislatures of 38 of the 50 States to ratify the proposed amendment nullifying the 2nd. Once you've done that, and the 2nd is gone (huzzah!) get Congress (or the State legislatures), to pass legislation banning private ownership of firearms. When it becomes clear that people are not voluntarily giving you their guns, pass legislation authorizing confiscation of all privately held firearms. This ought to be easy, since you've already mandated registration of the nasty things, so theoretically you know where all the guns are. Now it gets a bit murky in my crystal ball, but my guess is you'll need to form some type of paramilitary police force to carry out the confiscation, since regular cops probably couldn't get it done. The rest is murkier still, but me thinks it won't be pretty.
"So," I go on,"stop whining about 'common sense gun control' when what you really want is a gun free society. The mechanism is in place to achieve that, so get to work." "It will too long," they say (progressives always want what they want, NOW, which is why they so often resort to court action when they don't have the votes). "Yeah," I say, "so that's a drawback, and some blood might be spilled, but keep in mind that's alright to guarantee the safety of the children." You may be surprised to hear that I no longer talk politics with my progressive friends.

Gosh, I don't have any emergency water or food. Sig, dont you have a farm?? Surely thats gold standard for emergancy supplies? Probably why I don't have "emergency" supplies stockpiled. It really isn't an issue.

Ammo could be necessary in certain situations...so I’ve heard. I have lots of of ammo. And I'm not even one of the "nuts". Ok, I do have a few hundred rounds of 22 ammo, might have several bricks even. Mmmmmmmmm. ok, might have a supply of 12 gauge, and dog gone it, might have a few 357 rounds laying around as well as a few 6MM shells.

It seems generally pointless ... but I hate to be an optimist. The rest is murkier still, but me thinks it won't be pretty. Down right bloody I would guess ... but again, optimism appears to be unwarranted here. At the start of the War for Southern Independence, the regular army divided according to regional sympathies and local militias were decidedly partisan. Is there ANY reason to believe that local / state police and the National Guard would not do something similar?

Back when I was living in Flagstaff, AZ I had a small hobby of collecting lightly used mosin-nagant Soviet infantry rifles. Every time some ex Soviet bigwig would sell out a weapons bunker, you could pick them up for $50-$80 apiece. Got a very fine 1939 one that fires great. Lots of ammo, although it is somewhat "dirty" compared to western ammo.

That's a real nice looking one. I always thought I'd get a mosin I but never have. I like the look of the old mausers.
