The Houston area is about to have our 10th 80 degree day of the new year. Very warm but after seeing the weather in California and the upper Midwest I am not complaining.

A few months ago, when I moved back to the US, and more specifically, back to Northern California, my big concern was that we would soon have water rationing because I was just sure that we would have a dry winter, based on what we were being told about the ENSO cycle. Well ... I'm no longer worried about that this year ...

Well ... I'm no longer worried about that this year ... In Oz, we were told that "even the rain that falls won't fill the dams" ..... we had the same turnaround.

In 1976 the UK had an extended 'drought' almost no rain in the South for months. Reservoirs running dry, water lorries out delivering water as standpipes had run dry. Things got so bad that the then Labour government appointed a 'Minister for the Drought'. The next week it started raining.
