That is a lot of energy being taken out of the Indian Ocean. If anyone knows why those cyclones have spun up they would be able to earn a fortune forecasting them

I think next winter very much depends on what we see this summer over the Arctic Basin? If things are going from bad to worse then we might not have any cold in the basin ( by cold I mean historic temps for that point of the year?) and so any cold will be centred around Greenland and the places seeing the WACCy snowfall in October? ( Canada/Siberia/NW Europe?).
If winds Favour treating Northern Canada the same way it treated W.Siberia last October then the U.S. may see very cold periods. If it is that the 'new ' circulation means it will always be Eurasia that cops for the Early winter anomalous snowfall then Canada and the U.S. may see less and less, in terms of extended cold outbreaks, over coming years, with the short lived episodes we saw this year the worst they could see?
The report looking at China's smog issues, under the new low ice forcing, seems to think that the 'New' pattern is set and so will form the basis of the modern winter?
