Thanks for the welcome, I have been a lurker since 2008 I enjoy reading and learning from you all. This summer has been very pleasant, we had a few days over 100 around the middle of July but it didn't last, and we received rain weekly. A few of those weeks it rained every other day which is very unusual here for July and August. It has stayed green and lush here which is very very unusual in my neck of the woods.

Yes there are ladies on the board but as I have already migrated south, I dont think my opinion counts :-) Im in the SW part of Oklahoma and I have to say the end of July and all of Aug has been the nicest since I moved here. We averaged 3 to 15 degrees cooler than normal from about the last week of July and its still holding. We also received rain 2 to 4 times a week sometimes heavy sometimes just enough to give everything a drink but I dont recall that ever happening since I have been here (migrated south in 1980). We have had those low 60's mornings too and I love it.

Astromet, where in North America would be the best locations to live, how much temperature change could be expected and how far south will these changes effect agriculture.

okgal: The United States has the lowest EFFECTIVE rate of corp income tax in the world. Note I used the term effective. Why do you think GE can make 5 billion dollars and pay no taxes. Because of how the tax code is structured. I would say zero taxes on 5 billion is pretty low rate. Another thing you must look at is income distrubution and gross tax reciepts as a percentage of such. Another thing you must examine is the wealth controlled by percentage of the population. And then you must also consider that anyone doing business uses our infrastructure. And per economic unit produced, a corporation will use the infrastructure very well. Who do you think pays for the roads that the corps use? It isn't the corporations, but the people. Why should a corp get a free ride on your back? The legal definition of a corp is a person. That person should be subject to the same taxes as you are. The corp produces something that you value and want to buy. You have something that you want to sell to the corp....which is your labor. Why should you, as labor, provide a corporation with all the amenities to do business. Shouldn't that corp have a resonsability as well? I own a company and we are a corp and by God I would like to pay the taxes the average joe, that makes what my company makes, pays. You can use GE as an example but everyone knows GE is one of the companys that our current admin has given tax breaks to. Your wrong if you think just because a business becomes incorporated that they dont pay taxes which includes property taxes that everyone else pays along with a breakdown of what MY companys taxes are going for. I know a lot of business owners and I see more fraud in John Q Public trying what they can to rip off the system than I ever have in any of the businesses and owners I know.
Your comments sound to me like you listen to the media a bit too much, a media that is hand in hand with our government. 50% of Americans dont pay any taxes (that includes those who pay and get everything back) the large corporations pay 70% of the taxes (unless you contributed to Obamas campaign then you get tax breaks) Small businesses and those who make over a certain income pay the rest. This country makes plenty in taxes to pay our debt, the problem is our GOVERNMENT is on a big spending and government job creation spree, all which drain our economy and is a big burden to us taxpayers!!!!! Over the last 50+ years our government has been enrolling, enlisting, suckering the citizens into believing they cant survive without the government and the majority of the population now believes they cant. But there are many down to earth Americans out there that will survive the economic chayos our government is creating. Dont EVER count Americans out. It may just take an economic crash for the phoenix to rise from the ashes. And dont believe the bull sh*t you read in the media or see comming out of hollywood, they lie.
You sure have no clue, eh? Corporations pay a very small amount of taxes, and the wealthy pay a lower percentage of their income on taxes than the rest of the population. The unearned income tax rates are criminally low.
Are you sure or are you just listening to our media and the current administration (bad bad corporations and capitalism) ? Try doing some research on your own and not listening to groups with an agenda, you might be surprised. Oh and while your at it compare what Americans pay in taxes to the rest of the world, that might surprise you too. This country is full of sheeple
I am maybe little bit old fashion but I do not see civil war as a solution. US, and some other countries, problems seems to be from a outside view that no one want to pay. Or to be more specific no one are able to pay. That goes from top to bottom. from private persons, small companies, large companies, state level to US level. Here is the bad news. No one else will be able or willing to pay Your dept. Greece are in better position within Eurozone than US with the dollar. suddendebt.blogspot.com/2011/03/private-debt-comparison-usa-v-greece.html
Down here in winter wheat country we did get trace amounts of rain a couple days but not enough to get crops growing. Our wheat crop looks pitiful and instead of harvesters I see many farmers cutting and bailing their fields probably for livestock feed that they are going to need due to no first hay cutting. We still had some frost as recent as a week ago, nothing is growing as it should from my pastures to my vegetable garden. Some farmers have planted (mainly cotton) but not many. I have yet to convert to shorts, still to chilly but were suposed to warm this week.

No apology needed. In the words of Sergeant Schulltz: "I know nothing." Because I'm well past my sixtieth birthday, I have seen lots of hysterical causes pushed in my time. For example: Butter is bad for you, eat margarine. Don't discipline your kids, it will damage them mentally. Buy a new computer to avoid the Y2K bug. The Great Barrier Reef is dying because < list coral-killing things here >. Oil price per barrel will hit $US200.00 I really didn't know about AGW but was prepared to go along with the flow until I heard David Bellamy issue his Two Words Challenge: "Ice Age". He said that those two words should make you stop and think. I did. Thank you for all your contributions that keep me thinking. That's what makes me return to this forum ..... The problem is .... how do we make the politicians take notice? Do they want to take notice? (Taxing is their game, remember.) I have corresponded with the three major political parties here in Australia and the response is the same from all, almost as though they all had the same public relations firm crafting the replies. A glimmer of hope here in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia is that one radio station is using the words "global warming" and "bunkum" in the same sentence and inviting qualified AGW sceptics to state their views. Ratty Politicians see global warming as a money making, public controlling scheme, and they want the public to believe that the sky falling.
