I have been thinking about the growing narrative about RCP8.5 where there is growing discomfort with what is clearly a scam even by centrally thinking liberals. The media included.
Given that the story was constructed in the 1980s also conveniently at the nominated start of satellite time, but actually a convenient low point in temperatures and it had as a target a final date of 2100, so 120 years. We now have moved past 25% of the period nominated a review is justified. I know in the team out there we have a number of folks who understand the statistical methods to build viable probabilistic values for each of the RCP scenarios in 2100. No point in me doing it, I don't have the mathematical rigor or credibility other than to say RCP8.5 is a one-in-million outcome, RCP2.5 is even looking well below one in two or 50%. From there we can do the usual comparative fear story such as RCP8.5 is about as likely to kill you as a meteorite so in addition to spending 10 trillion dollars on a GND we need an MND (meteor new deal) also etc. We need to stop the grizzling and make a solid fair narrative. Just an idea.

Roger Pielke Jr. has done work on this. I encourage everyone to search and see what they can come up with.

The madness continues, the brainwashed still trying to solve an imaginary problem. U.N. says the world is 'on the verge of the abyss' (Chapter 50(?) in a long-running soap opera) news.yahoo.com/as-biden-prepares-for-climate-summit-un-says-the-world-is-on-the-verge-of-the-abyss-194222171.htmlIn times past such problems would invariably be addressed by bringing out "the sacrifices". When severe, these often included humans ... but almost always included items of value that were taken by the high priests and other temple officials. Imaginary problems have historically been used as cover for real problems that the priesthood cannot fix or will not address. Or just as a reason for a good raid. Genghis didn't need to rattle the bowl too hard.
