They pulled out all the stops for this one. They're going for the gold. For a population raised on soap operas and reality TV, I wonder if there is any questioning of the message what so ever. If not, then we deserve what we get. Herr Goebbels would be proud.

The easiest way to deal with this world is that cynical indifference.

Astro, what is your prediction about the upcoming winter in noth west Europe (Scandinavia) ? Anse, it's going to be a rough winter season in northwest Europe and Scandinavia. There already have been snow falling in parts of Europe in July and August 2016, which shows how the jet streams are altering and will bring about increased precipitation of snow along with very cold polar air for the coming winter season in the northern hemisphere. Thanks Astro. I was suspecting you would predict a cold winter. As you say, we have already in August had snow falling in the mountains up in the north west of Sweden and also seen some extreme temperature swings. During a future global cooling period, I think this part of the world will be hit hard. We are used to relatively mild winters and quite long growing seasons, but if temperatures fall we are really living on the edge. I believe we have a quite well adapted infrastructure to withstand cold periods but the problem is the food. During recent decades, we have tended to import more and more food, giving up the idea with semi-subsistence farming. If necessary, fortunately me and my family can "escape" to our small farm. There we have some hectares of farmland and good portion of forest. The heating system in the house is based on water and can be heated with wood only (no circulation pump which needs electricity is necessary). We have also a digged water well were we can take up water manually. And the forests are full of moose, roe dears and wild boars ;-)

Thanks Astro. What do you see for 2017 crop year production? You said a late spring but how is the summer and fall looking? I am in the northern cornbelt.
