The founders had a go at this by putting age limits on the President. The idea was that by that (for the time) advanced years would have a background of work. The UK parliament hours used to be from mid-afternoon to 10pm at night or later, as it was expected that being a member of parliament was not your job, it was what you did after your normal work day. The problem these days is that it is possible to go to university and study politics, join the office of a politician, stand for a political office and remain in that office until way past what would be normal retirement. The result is that you are closer to the other politicians than you are to people in what should be your constituency. The US congress makes this worse by not only paying well but providing a pension and medical cover for life. It is precisely the same in the EU where net pay is more than gross pay as 'allowances' are greater than the agreed 'tax' EUrocrats pay 6% tax So the only way to prevent the government politicians losing touch with the 'common people' is to have strong term limit enforcement and that is a total score of years as a politician over the politicians' lives. So the 4 years as a local assemblyman counts toward your say 8 years total. Politics should not be considered a 'job' it should be considered as being in service of your constituents/country. So the politician - say a member of congress - will get allowances not pay for accommodation, food, travel all overt and should be allowed to continue being paid by their original job. As we can see congressmen being paid ~$190K pa become millionaires after 4 years in DC - something is not right and palms are being greased - perhaps payments to them above their original salary and congressional allowances must be publicly declared or taxed at 120%. Unfortunately, this is all asking turkeys to vote for Thanksgiving. Wild turkeys have a better track record than most politicians ... and seem to share a common ancestor. Could be why Ben wanted to make them the national bird.

(sigh) “Tanks shooting down cruise missiles is awesome," Dr. Will Roper, assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology, and logistics, told reporters. "Video game, sci-fi awesome."
Dear USAF: the M109 is NOT A TANK.

Semantics for the purpose of civilians reading the story. It can travel at 35 mph, that's quite a bit faster than a WW2 tiger tank. Actually, it looks somewhat like a tiger, yes?

The President of Princeton University trying to 'out woke' other universities has agreed with student 'leaders' that the university is institutionally racist and racism is in everything it does. However, to get federal funds and accreditation Princeton like other universities signed up to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act that it was NOT racist. "EXCLUSIVE: Education Department opens investigation into Princeton University after president deems racism 'embedded' in the school
The Department of Education has informed Princeton University that it is under investigation following the school president's declaration that racism was "embedded" in the institution.
President Christopher L. Eisgruber published an open letter earlier this month claiming that "[r]acism and the damage it does to people of color persist at Princeton" and that "racist assumptions" are "embedded in structures of the University itself."
According to a letter the Department of Education sent to Princeton that was obtained by the Washington Examiner, such an admission from Eisgruber raises concerns that Princeton has been receiving tens of millions of dollars of federal funds in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which declares that "no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.""More here> www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/exclusive-education-department-opens-investigation-into-princeton-university-after-president-deems-racism-embedded-in-the-schoolAs apparently the students have been protesting the university 'institutional racism' the obvious thing to do is to remove accreditation from Princeton to award degrees and all accreditation of existing students. Stop all funding to Princeton. Then carry out a detailed forensic investigation into all claimed racism. It should only take 18 months or so and will inform the decision in 2022 or 2023 on whether to restore accreditation. Get woke go broke

In 2016, Hillary Clinton said on the passing of Justice Scalia
“The Senate has a constitutional responsibility here that it cannot abdicate for partisan political reasons.”

"BREAKING: Trump Bans U.S. From Doing Business With Those Who Promote ‘Harmful’ Far-Left Critical Race Theory
President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday afternoon that he has banned the U.S. government from doing business with people and companies who promote far-left critical race theory, noting that the ideology is “divisive and harmful.”
“A few weeks ago, I BANNED efforts to indoctrinate government employees with divisive and harmful sex and race-based ideologies,” Trump tweeted. “Today, I’ve expanded that ban to people and companies that do business with our Country, the United States Military, Government Contractors, and Grantees. Americans should be taught to take PRIDE in our Great Country, and if you don’t, there’s nothing in it for you!”"www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-trump-bans-u-s-from-doing-business-with-those-who-promote-harmful-far-left-critical-race-theoryIt is worth reading through the Order as it seems to ensure that no government funding can go to anyone by any path that teaches the so called 'Critical Race Theory'. This will hit almost everyone in the USA including Universities looking for research grants or supporting industry in contracts. They could find themselves barred from any government funding which will create more than a little cognitive dissonance.
