The regulations imply that you guys "combat" fish over there. Hip to hip ... holster to holster. Ahh ... the great outdoors.

Well, spring is complete. I have a baby bird in a nest in the peach tree just out my daylight basement door. Mother bird tolerates me but kicks Bluejay butt. This morning, mother deer and two newborns wandered out of the drainage that leads to my back yard. I'm hoping that they have better table manners than previous years' lots ... chomping the tenderest of my lillies and flox. But the small ones are safe from me. The apple trees are now large enough to escape most of their depredations till the young bucks show up to challenge them with their antlers. They are lucky that I have no need to feed my own young with wildlife as my ancestors did. Young Bucky the male is lucky I don't have a silencer, as he truely pisses me off.

Apparently wet spring in upper Mid-west. Central Michigan temps so far in May 6 F below normal - continuation of cold spring. Let me just guess that it has also been cloudier than normal ... duh!!!

Went out to mow the back 8000 and found one of the newborn fauns tucked away in the higher vines under some trees. Mother off grazing I guess between feedings. Don't know where she stuck the second one. They were born in my yard morning before last as I observed Mother licking them clean as I got up. Sure enough, by late afternoon she was back and retrieved junior. I didn't notice any more missing lillies, so no demerits for that lot today.
