A stealth tropical wave is sneaking into the Caribbean But it may not get past the expected cold front...

Update. Looks like the first of these could become a Tropical Storm and wander into the West Central GOMEX.

There may not be sufficient ocean heat available for anything too alarming...

So much for no hurricanes after a major front goes through. In 2020, we have seen three fronts on the gulf coast, and the high temperature has barely cracked 80 for the last week, with lows in the 50s and 60s. Given the water temps in the northern Gulf, I'll be curious to see if a storm can maintain hurricane strength, let alone CAT 2 status, all the way to the coast.
In any case, patio furniture comes back inside, I'm afraid. What a year this has been!

South West Louisiana in the cross hairs again... Slightly tidier ensemble The northern GOMEX is cooler than it was a month or so ago - so perhaps the storm will weaken as it approaches the coast.

Patio furniture manufacturers gearing up to increase production? In Mexico. Looks like the Riviera Maya from Playa del Carmen to Cancun is gonna get trashed. And a short time later it drops from 4 to 2. Saved by a cool patch.

The water in the Northern GOMEX is not quite warm enough to support the giddy cheerleading for Delta coming ashore as a major hurricane So the more up to date models have taken this into account and do not foresee the storm being a major storm at the coast. As a Cat 2 storm it will still be a little too exciting for some of the low lying areas in South Louisiana but it is significantly better than the case the cheering on meteorologists were forecasting as they wanted a Cat 5 at landfall.

NAM has Delta at 976 mb at landfall. That's borderline Cat1/Cat2. For what it's worth, I stick to my earlier prediction that it's a 1 or less. Mr. Naut is correct that the reporting on this by NHS has been overwrought. I even saw one article saying Delta was another Wilma, and predicting the total destruction of New Orleans.
For my part, Mr. Ratty, I just brought in the cushions, but left the heavy furniture out. And, I decided not to board up the windows. Life is good.

They are always predicting the total destruction of someplace or something these days. And never held to account afterwards. In between it is always Trump's fault. I would offer myself as a substitute, but I don't have anything they want. At least not yet. They'll come for the "crumbs" later as they run out of "well-heeled" targets. At which point, the cushions will not be enough I think. I like your senator Kennedy. Is his pen truly mightier than the sword?

Senator Kennedy is a fine example of what a US Senator should be. Folksy, yet articulate. Well informed and so, unflappable. A nice guy, too. i had the pleasure of meeting him once. We sat next to each other on a plane.

I get: "This tweet is unavailable" when I click on the link. Unavailable? To me? To everyone? Is Joe being deplatformed?
