Much to the delight of Kevin and all his friends, sunspot 1026 is coming into view. One wonders if it will be strong enough, and last long enough for Livingston and Penn to get a reading on it. For those who, like me, are interested, LefifSvalgaard posts any results on www.leif.org/research/Livingston%20and%20Penn.pngSo if anyone sees any results for 1026, please post that they are available. TIA

TIA I just talked with Bill Livingston. He has telescope time on Saturday, so if the spot hangs around that long, will be able to get a reading.

Did Bill Livingston get a reading on 1027 yesterday? Takes a couple of days to process the data...

From Livingston [30 seconds ago]: "The obs are in the bag. Bill" For 1027 [1026 he didn't get], the mean of 12 spots over 4 days was: 1917 Gauss for field strength 0.850 for contrast Needless to say [!] the results fall just where they should be:

Thanks also to Livingston for providing his measurements. So how far are we away from confirming L&P (2005)?

I wonder if I am permitted to ask another request. Hopefully, SC24 is going to start ramping up shortly. This should give the possibility for many more readings in the coming months. It is always nice to be able to run one's own statistics on the data. Is there available a table showing date, contrast and magnetic field strength for all the main points on the graphs; i.e. the average for each sunspot measured? Then if for each new spot in the future, if we could get the same data, we could each do our own analysis.
