Thx scpg02....
I understand the l&p thing, and found its possible projection concerning. However recent entries show we appear to have past the point where the average is closest to 1500 gauss.
The idea of a negative sunspot is intriguing, but I'm not trained in this field and wondered what the scientific community had made of this?

Dr Svalgaard, as the L&p graph now appears to be starting to show a lowering in gauss readings, I'm wondering what your thoughts are on what is the driving force behind the reduction. It doesn't fit the solar cycle on so far as a maximum and minimum passed in cycle 23 with no correlation, it's only now as we pass cycle 24's maximum that the trend continues?

It is too early to pass judgement on L&P. What we do know is that small sunspots are disappearing. How far that will go, we will have to wait a few years to see.

Ok, thanks Dr.Svalgaard....i guess the sun rewards the patient!

Hello Dr.Svalgaard,
So I see you said years....but is there much to add after nearly 1?!
I see the L&P graph on your resource page hasn't updated recently, in light of recent in-activity on the sun's earthside, do you (despite I appreciate it being perhaps too early to call it) see verification in a 1500 gauss threshold manifesting itself??

still on track? Or just "cyclomania"? There will be a flattening out as the bottom below 1500 Gauss is disappearing. This may be happening already. But it is too early to be sure.
