Thermostat: I would think that he may put you to shame with an attitude like that. sigurdur, give me a break. I am the whipping boy on this forum. Whatever. But bullshit is bullshit. You aren't the whipping boy. You add demension, make people think. That is a good thing. A callous attitude tho.......that is not a good thing. Hairball asked you a legitimate question......what you knew about cycles, and if you agreed that they exist.

Whipping boy? Do whipping boys traditionally dole out insults? I asked you a simple question: you say that ENSO is a cycle; in what way do you think ENSO is a cycle? You have no answer because you are morally and intellectually bankrupt. hairball, You really ought to meet scpg02! Regardless you write 'in what way do you think ENSO is a cycle?' Huh? you are kidding? Right? I think ENSO is a classic cycle just like the literature describes it.

Whipping Boy Thermostat,
Science has proven itself singularly incapable of predicting ENSO.
It goes up, down, up, down, down, up, up.
Your statement "I think ENSO is a classic cycle just like the literature describes it" is nonsense.
There is no such literature.

No, you don't got it.
There is no (non-fiction) literature saying that "ENSO is a classic cycle".
Because it clearly isn't.

AGW "science" (consensus?) predicted ENSO would be permanently in an El Nino state. Of course this must assume then the oceans would also be in a permanent state of "excess" heat accumulation as El Nino is a release of heat. Ever notice how El Nino is so important to AGW yet the prognosticators say ENSO doesn't dominate climate in any way? They look forward to every El Nino as being the Big One over and over

Thermostat,
My point is that you're full of it - as usual.

Hold the phone there T,
I'm waiting on your ludicrous "I think ENSO is a classic cycle just like the literature describes it." references.
Hansen and Trenberth quotes invoking El Niñomageddon aren't exactly rare.

Hansen loves El Nino's. He predicted a strong one for this year. You can look it up; only regular members would already know this, not drive-by posters like you.

I see the SOI has been above +17 for the past 5 days Is the current La Nina making a bid to last through to year end?

Magellan, Thanks for providing a reply. Regarding "Hansen"; huh? That's it? Hansen has been predicting a strong El Nino since early this year. Saying it is probable is a prediction isn't it? It's not hard to find, even with Google. I'm not looking it up for you this time. AGW promoters need El Nino's; that's their last hope for the cult. However, with each El Nino, it means more heat is removed from the system, so although it may seem counter intuitive, El Nino appears to be one of earth's ways of "cooling off". If there is a net loss of heat, does that mean global warming is accelerating? Hopefully you understand the difference between temperature and heat by now.
