This is just depressing.. Still absolutely no sign of even a SINGLE summer day here in middle of Norway and forecast that goes all the way into july shows days temps of 10-15c. A town south of here actually is supposed to get snow in the next few nights, which is very unusual for this time of year. Only a few days until summer solscite and yet weather is like early spring with no sign of improvment.
I really wonder how things will be next year.. This is just so depressing considering we also had the coldest anomalies this winter, spring and now summer. I really wish i had money for a vacation as it seems like i wont see another summer here in my lifetime. I also went across the border"90 mins drive from here" on wednesday and visited storlien which is 600 meter above sea level and the trees had only just now started to become green.
Absolutely everyone who i have talked to who live here have never experienced anything like this year in their lifetime.

The Canadian Praries suffered from global cooling this spring with 12 million acres not planted. The Northern Plains of the US had better warm up soon or there is going to be a real problem with production. Cool today again. June is running 2.0F and more below average. Growing degree days are 165 below average. We need some of that AGW here soon!

Sig Thanks for the update, unpleasant as it is. Food is kind of important as opposed to conjured graphs.

The Canadian Praries suffered from global cooling this spring with 12 million acres not planted. Only that no such statement was ever issued:
Eight to 12 million acres unseeded; wheat acres lowest in almost 40 years
In total, between 8.25 million and 12.5 million acres of farmland will go unseeded across the Prairies. The CWB is projecting the western Canadian seeded area for all wheat at 19.15 million acres, the smallest area since 1971 and an 18 per cent reduction from 2009-10. The area seeded to durum is expected to be 3.4 million acres, the smallest area since 1980 and down 39 per cent from 2009-10. The barley crop is looking at its lowest acreage since 1965. About 6.6 million acres of barley will be seeded, down 20 per cent from last year.
"Many areas got off to an early seeding start, but the extraordinary rains halted progress. Significant amounts of farmland remain unseedable at this late date," Burnett said. "On the other hand, some previously dry regions where planting took place early have benefitted from the rains."www.cwb.ca/public/en/newsroom/releases/2010/061110.jspTouko

touko: You have to live here to understand. It has been cold and wet. The cold is what brought the rains and lack of drying between them.

And now it is turning from bad to even worse.. Forecasts show winds of 70km/h and 90mm of rain over the next 2 days with daytime highs peaking at 10c and it looks like they are right so far.. Gusts of 50km/h, less than 10c and raining like heck outside.
Meanwhile they have 19c on greenland...

I don't need someone to tell me that it is cold and wet and that is the reason that the crops did NOT get put in.....and what is in is behind in development. Sheeesh.

Touko: I live 25 miles south of the border. Yep, the moist weather system came from the Pacific. However......there was no heat in May when it rained. I live here, I know the weather. It is called observation. It has been cold and wet in Manitoba/Sas/Eastern Alberta as well as in ND and Northern Minn. Observed.

"Canadian Prairie growers cannot get a break from the cool and wet trend--very similar to what U.S. growers put up with in the previous 2 growing season.--Bryce "
I stand with what I post.

So that weather of yours is "global cooling". Since you're in the cooling know, at what temperature will it quit being "global cooling"? Some time next week perhaps, looking at your forecast?
