Croatia was -20 in March, now mid 40's....quite a temp spread!! Severe climate disruption for sure. PS: I'll stop complaining about last night's +7C and the 30+C days ahead ..... maybe.

Well it would appear that the potential storm on its way West from the Cape Verde islands is not quite making it (you can almost feel the disappointment in the forecaster reports). It may well be that there is a LOT of dry air in the way of normal hurricane development. Note that this link updates so it will show the atmospheric humidity in the few days up to the time of you looking at this post, not what it was when I posted it.

This apparently is nothing new to the Med. From (www.breadandbutterscience.com) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Ancient_Rome79 A.D. – 88 A.D. Italy. Famine There was a terrible period of suffering from 79 to 88 A.D. when the Roman world seemed to be shaken to its physical foundations. A devastating drought and famine swept over the Italian peninsula. It is said that 10,000 citizens died in a single day at Rome during its height. Tacitus left a grim picture of the distress and suffering. Houses were filled with dead bodies and the streets with funerals.84

We have a group of 8 friends leaving for a week in St John tomorrow so I've been watching the Hurricane centers updates on this since it was first tracked and I agree the forecasters are trying very hard to keep this one alive with no encouragement coming from the wave or reality!

It does appear that the expectation is that it will recurve to the North East although the models are all over the place as is normal with a non-storm

You suppose that Mother Nature is preparing their cold-blooded bodies for hibernation? Just a thought.

"Tweet' from Joe Bastardi:
The hurricane season is NOT STRONG. Objective ACE index even with Franklin is well below normal. Ave ACE/Storm 1.1 1950s: 10.6!"

From Fox's Rick Reichmuth NOAA increases forecast to reflect more expected activity. No hurricanes so far, but Franklin may become 1st tonight. #hurricane #weather

Dry air has killed this potential storm but Joe Bastardi still concerned about it although its forecast track will make it a 'fish storm'.
