Yes I know it's not summer yet (some places haven't even made it to spring yet!). But I thought I'd kick this off as flaming June (Ho Ho) is just around the corner. I'm hoping we don't get a repeat of the last two summers in the UK as they were below the 30 year average and as a grower this is bad news The only positive is I've been growing my young plants in my conservatory and they are way ahead of last year (put my tomatoes outside two days ago).

thankfully I repaired my green house this year, because my outdoor plants are sitting in waterlogged ground. I'm in Ireland and we've had cold and wet through the last few months. I have a boat, It's normally back in the river by Easter, but this year it's still sitting on the bank! If it keeps going like this, the river will come up to meet it

I have not had time to do research to see how wide a region has had a cold spring. I do know that Manitoba and ND have had a very cold spring. La Nina is not kind to us.

Well the Jet stream is south of the UK again (3rd year running). The end of may and the first few days of June were great The average for June for the first week was 2 degrees C above the 71-2000 average all looked great ;D And then... The jet stream dropped south, the wind direction changed to the north and temperatures dropped. We now have temperatures 1C below the 71-2000 average (plus cold nights). Ho hum lucky I got my greenhouse up

Well, I predicted another cool summer in Alaska where they have already had much more warm weather in 2009 than they had in the whole of 2008.
If any Brits, or other chilly folks, are willing to pay the right price, I am willing to predict a cool summer for you, too. ;D

I don't need any help to know we are going to have a cool summer. In fact, Joe Bastardi from Accuweather just informed us we won't have a summer.......

I'm don't know what you've been reading, but JB agrees with the Met Office on this one. We're in for a summer of above average temperatures. And I tend to agree. My guestimate was indeed for a positive anomaly. But "above average" and "cooler" can be the same thing. Average is relative to a preset range while "cooler" can just mean a recent downward shift in temperatures. The pots and pans in my home AVERAGE about room temperature but the pan I just used for cooking an hour ago is definitely cooler...than it was an hour ago.

Well the forecast for tonight in the UK is that rural areas may have temperatures as low as 3C. I'm going to have to cover all my plants to stop frost damage tonight and the Summer solstice is only 10 days away!!!! I can't remember seeing a real frost in June so if it actually transpires I will be gob-smacked

Its really fascinating... But how the heck did this cloud appeared here in north greece? These do not appear in Greece... I think the same counts for most of europe? Any ideas? How do i upload an image?... I am sure you wanna see these....

I always put my images on my own website.

alex4fr writes about mammatus clouds. Could these be some of the new types of clouds; something like peristatus (? spelling). Maybe this is evidence for Svensmark clouds.
