Here in Denver, CO, we have yet to hit 80 this month. The last time Denver went the first two weeks of June without hitting 80 was 1949.

I remember the winter of 62/3. I was in Devon, near Tiverton. There were two blizzards in December. I was taken back to school in mid January, through 5 meter snow drifts and iced, heavily rutted roads.
There was continuous snow on the ground in Sussex until the end of March.
Reminds one that in Cornwall many of the very old manor houses had ice bunkers in the gardens, where ice from the winter was collected and stored to act as refridgeration in the summer.
in recent decades, any ice at all would have been unusual in Cornwall.

At the end of the article from twawki's link www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/westview/big-chill-in-churchill-47992231.html"According to NOAA scientists, although the Arctic is warming, more frequent annual oscillations in temperature are likely to occur, often resulting in late springs. "Such major oscillations are part of a bumpy ride toward global warming," said Thomas Karl of the National Climate Center. "For awhile at least this will be the shape of things to come." Vegetation is also impacted upon by late Arctic springs, with green-up about three weeks late this year. Consequently, herbivorous animals have delayed breeding "People often confuse climate with weather, and this spring is a weather phenomenon," said an Environment Canada spokesperson." When reality strikes the religion, the mantra covers all, "people often confuse climate and weather". Maybe their conclusion is about what a solar minimum is like, solar weather is our climate.

RECORD EVENT REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN FRANCISCO 800 PM PDT SUN JUN 21 2009
...RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE SET AT OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT...
THE OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KOAK) LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THIS MORNING...JUNE 21 2009 WAS 50 DEGREES. THIS TIES THE RECORD LOW FOR THIS DATE SET IN 1953.
000 SXUS76 KOTX 220827 REROTX
RECORD REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE WA 126 AM PDT MON JUN 22 2009
THE HIGH TEMPERATURE AT SPOKANE AIRPORT IN THE PAST 24 HOURS WAS 55 DEGREES. THIS SETS THE RECORD FOR THE COLDEST HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THIS DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 56 DEGREES WAS SET IN 1984. RECORDS HAVE BEEN KEPT IN SPOKANE SITE SINCE 1881.
Latest ENSO update from NOAA says transition to El Nino appears to be taking place and that SST anomalies on the U.S. West Coast have switched in many cases from negative to positive.
The Oakland temp record (albeit just a tie with an older record) for the date makes it hard to believe that the NOAA map showing warm anomalies off the Central California coast is accurate.
Similarly, the buoys I have checked off Long Island and New England do not appear to confirm the warm SSTs in the region on NOAA's anomaly map, either.

Certainly the recent cool June in North America is weather.
The weather was caused by the jet stream lingering further south than typical for this time of year. Just the opposite of what the AGW folks predicted. We will likely have normal summer heat until the jet stream returns south EARLY again this Fall.
The trend seems to favor the predictions of Archibald rather than those of Hanson.

I earlier said i expected a warmer than "normal" summer here in Norway. I have sadly been completely wrong so far. The last 30 days is here in trondheim, norway is currently running 1.5c below average. We have so far not had a single summer day this june! The max temp this june has been 17c while most days maxing out at 10-15c. This is something i have never experienced during my lifetime. Last 30 days: Average temperature was 10.1 °C, 1.5 °C below the normal. Highest temperature was 22.9 °C (30 May), and the lowest was 3.9 °C (03 June). Here is a nice graph of the temps for the last 30 days: fil.nrk.no/yr/grafikk/klima/mnd/mnd_068860_eng.pngThe average temp in 2002 for june was 15c, 22c mean daily max and 30c max. This june we have 10c average, 12c mean max and 17c max. Some parts have also had snowfall in June, which is also unusual even for Norway. The main thing i have noticed is that night temps are way below normal. Edit: We have also had mostly northern wind for all this month.

Boxman, Here in Valdez, Alaska, which is roughly 2 degrees south of the latitude of Trondheim, we have had mostly warmer weather in May and the first two weeks of June than average. One interesting note, however, is that just like last summer, we have had fresh june snowfall on the mountains around Valdez the past couple of days. No one I have spoken with in town remembers this happening in the past several decades. (i.e., two years in a row of fresh snow on the mountaintops in June.) The summer weather finally arrived today in most of Norway with nearly 30c in some areas. Forecasts also predict same for rest of the week. I doubt it will be enough to make raise the average temp of june much.

I am new to this site, but in reading this thread, I wish I lived where it was cooler right now. Here in Northeast Texas we have had highs in the 90's with heat index's in the 100's. I would really love to see it cool off just a bit. The heat we are having right now we usually don't get until mid July into August.

Same here in the UK. June will be ~0.5-0.7 above normal. But the weather is now unusually hot. High 80s to-day - possibly touching 90s tomorrow and rest of week. I can only think of about 6 or 7 years out of the last 50 where temperatures have been this high.
