Well given the Autumn watch feedback I suspect we'll be needing this one soon ;D Given today's news you might soon find a discarded hockey stick discarded in the snow

I just talked to a friend in Toronto and she said for the last six months she has been using her fall coat. She never got to her summer shawl. Today she had to use her winter cold weather gear.
She later said "She never even got a Summer this Year. It's going to be a long long long cold winter"
I reminded her that where she is 12,000 years ago her neighborhood was apart of the North American ice sheet.
She said thanks, and she she said "Maybe I should start looking for property in California. Good thing I rent right now "

I've been watching the clouds closely over the past few weeks. They've been changing, they look somehow more grey than I remember of Septembers past. Almost wintery clouds. Very cold like. I imagine this might herald the beginning of a glacial period this December.

Ha ha, very funny. I think you should refer to actual events and signs of weather and not make such silly comments. I think this thread is to reference unseasonable weather related events either warmer or colder as people notice them with details like actual temperatures, snowfall and maybe an article referencing it.

But here in the Pennsylvania mountains down wind of Lake Onterio I've seen the same thing. We have had the winter pattern that would bring light lake effect snow but it's still to warm. The pattern is very like that of deep winter tho. The rain storm of last weekend even looked like a Nor'easter as well. Even had the wrap around moisture. Strange. Hopefully it isn't the signs of the winter to come.

I think if you read it again he is actually making fun of this thread and he isn't the least bit serious.

Get ready as it is manifesting itself daily.

After having one of the coldest summers on record here in southwest Wisconsin (i'm not complaining, it was about perfect temp), September was BONE dry for over 3 weeks and warm (ended +2F or so for the month) it has no turned VERY wet and cool/cold. The last few days have felt like November, although i think its nothing out of the norm. The avg frost here is around Oct 5 and while we did drop to 36F the other night, there wasn't any widespread frost.
If any of you guys are weather model watchers, the GFS has been continuing to show a storm capable of dropping snow in the midwest not far down the road...

We had our first hard frost low -4C/ high 3C high on Tuesday. Cold but not record cold for this time of year. The record is a high of -11.8C set in 1891.
The first snow fall is forecast for tomorrow.
It was warm and dry prior to that. This region suffers from drought during solar magnetic minimums and has very cold winters.

I do have a question regarding the patterns of the upper level lows. I have noticed that the low pressure systems seem to be in retrograde. I have seen this is the low latitude tropical atlantic, but never have so high in latitude. Can someone on here explain this? I really would like to understand whats going on with those over the past 2 weeks. The ones i have seen have been going from east to west. I do appreciate it.
