Well I didn't think I'd be making a post to this tread again Last Night the UK experienced the coldest May night for 15 years Here in the southeast it was the coldest for 10 years due to some cloud hanging around, even then we had a ground frost. My tomatoes are still in their little pots in my conservatory, waiting to be planted out I wonder if the sulphur dioxide from Iceland has anything to do with this, either that or it's more proof of AGW ;D

Signs of winter again in south eastern Norway: pub.tv2.no/multimedia/na/archive/00771/Sn__pinse_77118716x9.jpgLast week they had a few days with above 20c.. According to the forecast the temps will stay below normal for at least a week. This is quite unusual for southern parts of Norway this late in spring. Here is a crappy summary using norwegian-english translation: Last week it was well over 20 degrees in southern Norway, but this week is not nearly as hot. It is in fact unusually cold. - Temperatures in southern Norway will not get much above 10 degrees in the afternoons this week, said meteorologist Roar Inge Hansen at Storm Weather Center Nettavisen. I am Depressed Britt Bergan, who lives on Lampeland in Flesberg municipality in Buskerud, the little happy to hear the bad news from the meteorologist. For in her there because of snow in the garden - for a significant snowfall on Monday. - The snow has not melted yet. I sit and look at it, and is totally depressed, "said Bergan to Nettavisen. - It snowed for around 90 minutes, and it lay firmly in the ground, "she said. - Experience as a cold The cause of the cold weather is a low pressure area that will remain more or less in the rest of South Norway entire week.

More cold and snowy winters 2010-06-11
Photo: Thomas Nilsen
“Cold and snowy winters will be the rule, rather than the exception,” according to a study presented by the American climate researcher Dr. James Overland at the International Polar Year Oslo Science Conference on Friday. "The exceptional cold and snowy winter of 2009-2010 in Europe, eastern Asia and eastern North America is connected to unique physical processes in the Arctic," Overland told the audience at the Oslo conference that gather some 2.000 polar and climate scientists from 60 nations this week.
The reason why we can expect colder winters with more snow is according to Dr. Overland that a warmer Arctic climate is influencing the air pressure at the North Pole and shifting changing the wind patterns on the planet, reports the portal of the Oslo Science conference.
It is Europe, eastern Asia and eastern North America that can expect snowier and colder winters in the years to come.

You can check out the snow situation on Mt Buller easily here: www.mtbuller.com.au/Winter/Snow-Report/SnowcamsThis must be the Australian concept of thick snow but i personally would say the snow seems pretty scant at the moment at least. Let's keep on hoping hope there'll be a megadeath of snow, ice and cold weather eventually! Touko
