Historically un-elected folk get shot when things go wrong, with the aid of google these folk will get early warning and run. My hope is that next week will be a penny falling week.
Lets hope that the fast falling EU will change very fast. Merkel seems to be understanding things, after all she is ex DDR and they had a similar time of change.

I think the sooner the next group of countries signal a desire to test a withdrawal the better.
The rulers of the EU have the option of being hard on the UK and risking the sight of the UK signaling very good trade treaties with the withdrawing candidates thus stimulating more withdrawals.
The idea of a trading region has always been good, what is silly is seconded undemocratic government. Britain is a highly capable country it has enough scale and IQ to flourish in the world. Europe will in the next years reflect on what they are missing with their sclerotic model.

Yes Code that Matt Ridley is a very serious thinker.
His discussion on that subject and most others are very salient.
The EU is past it use by date in its current form, the concept of having a common currency was the bridge to far for a region so desperately different and not having fiscal unity.
The US has shown a much better way to operate so many different regions under one currency.
Interestingly NZ and Australia were closing in on a single currency some years ago very fortuitously that bit of madness passed.
There will be some pain and then there will be a very good outcome. Frankly the only regions who voted for staying in were the deluded bankers (London) or social welfare beneficiaries my personal opinion is that neither actually work for their income. trough seekers.

To take the wiggle discussion out of the discussion lets find a smoothed but agreed metric that does not depend on the sun being only 50% visible.
Just saying, but yes very quiet the sun.

The real issue when your dead is not how you die but that your dead.
So compare murder rates adjusted for age demographic and the comparison has value.
The likelihood that the US will loose its guns is zero as is the case in NZ or Australia. When I say loose its guns I mean the ones that kill people, held by troubled marginal folk.

Yes Sig you get the prize. We are close to the shortest day and my beans are looking slow and tired, limes and lemons going flat out.
Still drove out this morning and temperature in car said 8C. Yes we are soft but my daughter who was out rowing thought it was fine. (5am)

Its hard to see that melting away soon.
nullschool shows the entire south as very cold and when we in NZ get a southerly storm its very cold but as yet we have rested in a northerly biased system.
The ski fields are opening with respectable snow. If the blocking system slides further east as it has started to do thing will get cold.
