...and still an "unseasonably" cold airmass hovers over the UK and doesn't look like shifting anytime soon..I can't recall such a cool end to October.

snowy halloween By Alan Caruba Some folks in my home state of New Jersey woke up to a blanket of snow the same week as Halloween. The state’s largest daily headlined the story as “October Surprise: Snowfall snarls traffic and cuts power to 62,000 homes.” In a swath of northern counties, snow fell as if it were mid-winter. Fourteen inches of snow fell at High Point State Park. Snow in October is, indeed, a surprise to most, but not to those of us who, for years now, have been both debunking the “global warming” hoax and warning about a coming ice age. It may be one of short duration as in the case of the Little Ice Age that gripped the northern hemisphere from around 1300 to 1850 or it could be another like previous, major ice ages that alter history.

Well the results are in for the CET in the UK for October 2008 and the result was ..... 10.03 C the average for 71-00 was 10.4 C. So October was colder than the average since 1971!!! What really makes this shocking is that we had a few weeks with temperatures into the 20 C range during the daytime, this shows how cold it has been in the last week November currently stands at 1.75 C the average for 71-00 is 6.9 C, however we've only had night so far ;D

hi, is there some long-rage forecast for winter here in central Europe? In past two years we had very warm winters, with January and February like spring months, so I wonder, if it will be better this year

Winter blast expected for the UK on Friday 21st November!!
If it comes off this will follow the blast we got in October (first time in London for 73 years).
Could be a great winter in the UK for once ;D

We will have winter blast too, here in Czech Republic. There will be cool down tommorow, snow on mountains and next weekend(22.-23.) even snow in lowlands. But nobody know, what will follow. I hope, that we will have better winter after those two warm years

We had our first snow cover today with more coming Monday. To the north they've already had over 12".
The cold has arrived earlier than I anticipated, but at least for the next week it is forecast to be 10-14 degF below normal (whatever that means).
Snow is forecast possible for every day through Friday.
