Now you don't see this every day. All that warm Gulf Stream flow appears to be headed into the gyre and headed toward NW Africa instead of Europe.

[[Now you don't see this every day. All that warm Gulf Stream flow appears to be headed into the gyre and headed toward NW Africa instead of Europe.]] Missouriboy's comment.
If the Gulf Stream does not "revert" to its normal pattern by November, Europe could suffer a reality check on Global Warming.
I think winter temperatures in W Europe will be 2-3 degC cooler, which will have an interesting result on the climate.

I think winter temperatures in W Europe will be 2-3 degC cooler, which will have an interesting result on the climate. Makes one wonder if the flow of the Gulf Stream is chaotic with two main attractor states - one is the flow continuing as the North Atlantic Drift, the other is the flow through the gyre to the Atlantic coast of Africa then South. Just as a mind game - a flow of warmer water along the West African coast could lead to more rainfall in the Sahara area and eventually to the desert becoming grassland then forested as it was in the past with rains all along the North African areas. Is this the state that existed prior to the Egyptian kingdoms? Was it the flip back to North Atlantic drift attractor that forced people to relocate North Eastward into the Nile valley as the rains continually failed? As Missouri has pointed out the movement of the ancient peoples is a good indicator of the climate state. Could certain orbital states (barycentric effects) cause a flip in the chaotic gulf stream and lead to major climate shits in the Northern Hemisphere?

Seems to be quite cold where the North Atlantic drift should be

This is not really statistically relevant though. We're talking about 3.5 years of downward trend after ENSO event. We need to drop a little bit more till this becomes an unprecedented drop since the global warming mantra has been pushed.

True, although it was not a really strong ENSO event and. as I found on my recent trip to UK - EVERYONE is saying temperatures are inexorably rising.

And so it will go until widely publicized multiple studies or events drive undisguisable stakes through the heart of the beast. Once established, mantras (dogmas), like cultures, have a certain resilience through repetition.
