I am writing because I look at different sites which all discuss the same thing but do not consider the information on sites other than their own.
Examples: a site called GeoengineeringWatch.org blames all our erratic weather on seeding of the skies with aluminium, sulphuric acid who knows what else. Another site, adapt2030, blames all our erratic weather on planet/sun movement and behaviour. Sierra magazine - Jan/Feb2019 issue - has several articles about weather and earth conditions due to global warming(!). Included is a description of a "bug-out bag" which may be needed in an emergency in case of erratic weather conditions and public unrest caused by the heating of the earth. (this is the same bug out bag recommended in case of erratic weather conditions and public unrest caused by the cold and food shortages) MSM has a pundit saying, "the science is settled; the earth is heating up."
I accept as the correct science global cooling. I see photos of cops withering in the fields covered with snow; I know the sunspot count is 0 or almost 0, although..... Sierra magazine has a photo of people covering up a glacier with fleece to prevent it from melting away.
I present this to the forum hoping to get clarification and perhaps an explanation of why each site is seemingly unaware of anything else that is going on except the focus of the site.

Welcome lizziedw! I cannot speak for all of the contributors to this forum. I come here as a skeptic to everything I hear and read in the media. We live in an age of instant access to all information 24/7/365 yet cannot trust any individual source. Everything has been monetized and politicized. Indeed, your post demonstrates it. For the most part, you’ll find sound counter argument debunking here of the Catostrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming (CAGW) meme that is being propagated by most of the government and media voices on the planet. Propagandists who cannot tolerate counter arguments and information to their message surely need to be questioned! I don’t know what you think or what you’ve read but if you look at the climate related threads on this forum you will find many sources that show that the climate of the earth has always been cyclical and that we don’t live in a unique era. You will also find that the climate is driven by an extremely complex and interactive number of components of which humans are just beginning to observe. We are being told that CO2 is the knob that controls earth’s climate but that doesn’t make sense when all information is considered. That’s my 2 cents. There’s a lot of knowledge in this group and we have good senses of humor!

People gravitate to what they want to believe or exploit. Settled science is an oxymoron ... and no relationship in the world is linear for long. Any serious (real) scientist will continuously attempt to falsify their own hypotheses as they understand that they are likely wrong in one way or another. Engineers are probably best in this regard, as their failures will likely become obvious in near-real time ... unlike climate scientists salesmen, who can get decades of traction (profits) by accumulating true believers. I like this site because I think that our group tends to be more open to a range of ideas, even though on average, many of us gravitate to a solar-driven climate thesis. Adapt 2030 is an interesting site and I follow them, but they run the serious risk of dropping off the dark cold side and becoming promoters instead of scientists. David is a journalist after all. So, welcome Lizzie. Stick around. We need many disparate voices.

People like echo Chambers. Myself, I love science.
The thing I really like about this board is the level of knowledge. We are also fortunate to have a member, Missouri boy who can present graphs.
The beauty of commentators here is they can think.

I present this to the forum hoping to get clarification and perhaps an explanation of why each site is seemingly unaware of anything else that is going on except the focus of the site. Welcome to the site Lizzie. The climate is driven by multiple, linked (mathematically) chaotic systems. The idea of 'mathematical chaos' was put forward by a meteorologist called Lorentz. He had been doing weather experiments on early computers which took a long time and a lot of then scarce computer resource such as memory and processing time. He saved then restarted some experiments and found that after a short while they deviated markedly from the same runs that had been allowed to continue uninterrupted. He worked out that when he saved the runs at checkpoints the information had been saved at a lower precision that the floating point precision of the run. Just these minor changes led after a short while to huge deviations between the runs. Similar problems are found today with 'start parameters' or 'initial states' for example in flight management systems generating aircraft trajectories, where two trajectories generated a few minutes or sometimes less apart, by the same flight management computer, with the same requirements differ considerably just because the aircraft initial state has altered - position, altitude, fuel weight etc. (A book that is easy to read on this is "Chaos. the amazing science of the unpredictable" by James Gleick.) So the thing with chaos is a small input (often called the flap of a butterfly wing) at the precisely right time and in precisely the right way as with the Lorentz and flight management computers and any chaotic system, may cause the system to deviated unexpectedly away from the expected repeating path. Like kicking someone's ankle at precisely the right time in the right way as their foot approaches the surface to give them an ankle throw. So now to go back to the one-club golfers of the other sites It is possible that they are looking at part of a large chaotic system and think that their one identified causation can change the climate (the closely coupled non-linear linked chaotic systems). They may be right but only if other identified causations are also present _and_ if that part of the chaotic system was in precisely the right position to be given an ankle throw But we said that the system was a closely coupled set of chaotic systems. (To stretch the analogy) This is like a several people with linked arms all individually being subject to an ankle throws and expecting the entire line to fall over - it is not so simple. Yet at the same time we see ice-ages and interglacials within ice ages (we are lucky to be living at the cold end of an interglacial) so we know that it is possible for the climate to flip into a different state. Why and how are the interesting questions. The simple 'it is CO2 that does it' - does not account for periods in the past where the Earth entered an ice age with 10 times as much CO2 in the atmosphere. However, that argument does allow politicians to take advantage of the implied threat and try to take money and power by doing so - not a new phenomenon. This is why these sites really exist some to push in favor of the politicians and the attempts to significantly change at great expense, and the more classically scientific sites saying - but that cannot be correct - the hypothesis that CO2 is the ONLY reason and ALWAYS gives the chaotic linked arms climate system an ankle throw cannot be true. A bit of a ramble but that may answer your question. The people here as Sig says tend to think. We do not agree on everything which is good and we all learn from being here. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Thank you for your answers to my observations on "one club golfers" re: climate change. I have to figure out how to get in touch with David DuByne and Dane ? to ask them why they do not consider other factors besides their main theses. thesis. I was most influenced toward global cooling by a presentation by Dave Dilly, who I believe is deceased. His discussion of C02 convinced me that C02 emissions were never going to cause any global warming, for sure. Adapt 2030 led to to other sites and discussions, many of which showed the charts of the planetary and solar cycles. It makes sense to me that we are entering a cooling time on our planet. Also, look at the sun. I am interested if anyone has any idea or has seen any information which would give a clue as to how long the cooling cycle will last. 11 years? 15 years? Are we in the 400 year cooling cycle? (yikes) Okay, so hope to hear from somebody.

I don't feel its deliberate, hes just so caught up in what hes doing hes a little tunnel visioned. Hes fallen into my 'if you cant trust it don't watch it' bracket.

Read Zharkova - www.nature.com/articles/srep15689 modeled forecast for 4 weaker cycles starting with our current SC24, thus circa 2050. You'll be telling your grandchildren "I remember when". or not. And then search for and read comments and rebuttals you can find with a search of Watts up with that - wattsupwiththat.com/ and others. Listen to (read) proponents AND detractors. When they start sounding silly, and faith seems more important than evidence, go on to the next one. When you're down to faith, you're out of science. Don't conflate the two. Observe the past. Likely nothing repeats exactly, but it may "rhyme" (per Twain). "Cycles" are observable everywhere in nature. No reason to believe it is not the case here. Chaos is a catchall term for the (insert %) of stuff that you don't know that you don't know ... thus not currently (or ever?) explainable with current science. Good luck! But it is fun.

I watch because he has some interesting "feeds" coming in from different geographic areas that are not easily accessed elsewhere. Yes, they need to be evaluated objectively. David needs one of those slaves that supposedly rode in Roman Triumphs whispering "mortality" in the ear of power and certainty.
