Wuhan is 'quarantined' but that city is not far off the size of London in population. Stop food in and out of London and there would bbe riots inside a day, after 3 days there would be no food for many people.
This is nor nice

Shit happens. When you live in a city, you have to accept the risk of becoming liberal and ineffective at dealing with life's risks.

The critical issue is the 'incubation period' - how long after an infection is an infected person infective without having any symptoms if that period is extended then the containment of the infection is a lot more difficult. Another issue is the progress of the disease once the person is showing symptoms. The reports vary but some infected people seem to be dying rapidly. See this link:> Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus Infection (MERS-CoV Infection) This is a similar corona virus. Importantly it says: "What is the incubation period of a MERS-CoV infection?
The incubation period (the time between infection and start of symptoms) is about five days, but it can occasionally be up range from two to 14 days.
What is the contagious period for a MERS-CoV infection?
The contagious period (the time that a sick animal or human is infectious) for MERS-CoV is not known but may last as long as virus is being shed."what if? So in theory someone leaving China just a day after an unknowing infection may show no symptoms for a fortnight but be infectious for most of that time. Crowded flight to the USA, arrive at San Francisco long layover in crowded airline 'club room' - fly Denver in overcrowded flight to another long layover in crowded airport lounge then another crowded flight to Atlanta and an overnight stop in a crowded Atlanta airport hotel spend evening in crowded hotel bar. Next morning fly to Miami for conference spend all evening at a meet and greet with several hundred other attendees. Then fly home to New York via Atlanta 3 days later. In New York starting to feel ill goes to crowded ER where after an hour coughing and sneezing in among drunks and ODs, patient keels over and dies.Would anyone in a busy ER think I wonder if this dead middle aged white businessman has the Corona virus?
Even if they did how quickly would anyone back track to find people that could have been infected? Look at the spread of flights from San Francisco, Denver, Atlanta, Miami Think of the flight attendants that may have been infected and their subsequent flights. At the time of the black death villages in UK voluntarily quarantined themselves and made arrangements for food and supplies to be dropped off and left for pick up with no direct human contacts from outside. We could see that happening if the worst case 'RCP 8.5' of this Corona virus spread comes to pass.

Many in the west may already, unknowingly be infected......
We know so little to judge this issue.

Ok. Are ya ready? 1. The human body is amazing 2. Immunity is contagious. Yes, you read that correctly. 3. The more widespread this virus becomes, the more it is essentially doomed. Humans exchange titers just like we exchange virus. 4. There are survivors of this virus. The more widespread it becomes, the more survivors happen, the more titers exchanged. 5. All pandemics flare, then stop because of this. Is why the Spanish Flu isn't a major threat today. 6. Thank goodness this isn't a bacteria. Our bodies don't react the same way.
I plan on being a survivor. The more government tries to contain, the longer the pandemic, if it becomes one, will go on.
