Does anyone here have a critique of the RECOVERY trial? Glad to see you back Ratty.

Fear of the enemy is often greater than the enemy himself (herself). We seem to have raised this to a new art form. (?)
Perhaps it will (has) become standard in College curriculums.

Watch before it is pulled by the guardians of knowledge The CDC results showing 6% died OF Covid versus the others that died WITH Covid and multiple other conditions must be getting widely broadcast. Went to a church meeting tonight and had several people mention that they had heard/seen this. Just like me, they seemed more than a little disgusted. These are not people that "hang out" on the internet.

Yes - and I have seen several glib talking heads on TV saying the same However, what had not been made clear is that comorbidities were necessary for COVID-19 death in 94% of COVID-19 cases. In UK PHE went further and were reporting traffic accident deaths as COVID-19 if the person dying had ever tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. What is totally unclear about the WITH COVID-19 deaths is how many were _caused by_ and how many were dying in the next week or so anyway. All this is obfuscated by the bribe paid to hospitals to report deaths as due to COVID-19 as they get more money. Lots of reports of totally unrelated deaths reported as COVID-19. However, the point remains that the 'delivered wisdom' was that if you got COVID-19 and had a comorbidity such as obesity or diabetes or high blood pressure then the outcome would be worse. When what should have been said is that 94% of COVID-19 deaths are due to comorbidities and only 6% deaths occur in people with no comorbidity. That is a huge difference that limits the likely deaths considerably.

Nautonnier, I haven't read all the recent articles. What is new that hasn't been reported before other than that the most recent numbers are shown?

"How ‘Flatten the Curve’ Turned into ‘Shut Down Forever’ Here in California
On Friday, California Governor Gavin Newsom did something which, if anyone had predicted it five months ago, they would have been mercilessly mocked. Acting almost exactly as would a monarch, he outlined brand-new statistical standards for counties in the state to finally “reopen” which are impossible to reach, are based on a metric that isn’t reliable, and purposely do not include a theoretical category for things to ever return to “normal.”
Essentially, Newsom officially announced that the initial stated strategy of “flatten the curve” in order to get hospitals prepared has now evolved, five months later, into “fascism forever,” or at least until he were to leave office (assuming he still recognizes term limits). This may sound like hyperbolic alarmism coming from someone who has been among his harshest critics since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, but it is not a slight exaggeration."More here> www.mediaite.com/opinion/how-flatten-the-curve-turned-into-shut-down-forever-here-in-california/I have a feeling that a 'red result' in November will suddenly alter these constraints on California.

I think that we will see that we have "front loaded" deaths for comorbidities into 2020. As Covid winds down, such deaths should show a slight decline for a while going forward.

Facebook let me know the error of my ways: They have changed what was said - the CDC statement was: "Only 9,210 Americans Died From COVID-19 Alone – Rest Had Different Other Serious Illnesses"

I have heard innumerable people repeating those numbers (either 6% or 9200). It is widespread ... and it's dramatic ... and it will take a LOT of quibbles to affect the impact of those simple, easy to remember numbers.

I think you are exactly right. On the "excess deaths" being chanted by the Facebook Fact Fabricators, let's also not forget the increased suicide rate due to the lockdown, and the deaths of people who were too scared to go to the hospital or call an ambulance due to Covid-19... and thus died of something unrelated at home. I think Missouriboy has identified the *largest* cause of that surge, mind, but we shouldn't forget we're dealing with a very complex system here.

Someone needs to enforce metrology and reporting standards on the medical community. It is apparent that they will not do so themselves as the figures are routinely massaged in a way that benefits the assessor of the reason of death. Failure to report properly by medics should be treated in the same way as misreporting of finances by accountants. Jail time or large fine at the very least as well as being struck off any register that they are on.
