Spanish Flu was a mis-nomer as it likely travelled there with Chinese workers i believe?? It may even have been brought to Europe by the US troops - and yes they may have got it from China. The wartime censorship stopped reports from everywhere except Spain - so as that was the first country to report the problem - it got the blame.

Bumped into my Chinese neighbour, had general chitchat and i asked how her family were. They're in a city but not one with issues (....yet...?) Holiday is extanded, theyre being requested to remain indoors. Security at door to apartments measures temp leaving and arriving. Apparantly health care is usually at cost to patient but these are waived with relation to CV. They know there's a question of human cause and she could chat to me about gene sequencing etc, but her english makes technical discussion difficult. I asked about censoring and she seemed to feel she's at liberty to discuss anything with her parents, theres no fear of big brother there but wasnt sure about internet. She says people feel happy about how the government is dealing with the issue.
I know some of the above could interpreted, eg, just cuz a people feel happy doesn't mean they should be. However for what its worth, thats a little verbal insight into an average Chinese life right now.

Probably the best advice I have heard yet. The video is pretty much common sense based on fact and not click bait and fear. "Alert but not anxious" by Dr. Mike www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI90iqFqLXs

Did they know this was coming? Indeed, clearly this was prefab, its been mentioned elsewhere to SARS spec. There has been footage elsewhere of patients breaking through windows etc not wanting to be contained. Trying even to escape from ambulances. I guess they've seen all this before.... Guess theyve filled the hospital...

Coronavirus seems to be playing out. Confirmed cases are falling rather than rising. Buy stock!!! I think we are seeing the end of the first 'wave' of infections. The graph below shows the infection 'waves' of the 1918 'Spanish' Flu We are at week 35 - 36 or so. We have the main infection wave yet to come.I am always cheery sitting in a crowded airport airline lounge with a noticeable number of people in surgical masks

Chinese Market Taking it Hard

Mainland Chinese markets plunged on their return from the extended Lunar New Year holiday.
The Shenzhen component dived 8.69%, and the Shenzhen composite plunged 8.65% in early trading. The Shanghai composite tumbled more than 8%.
Both the onshore and offshore yuan weakened past the 7 level against the dollar on Monday morning, a key psychological level.

Coronavirus seems to be playing out. Confirmed cases are falling rather than rising. Buy stock!!! Theres alot of questions about how accurate figures are... A, its china, why would they be transparent B, do they have equipment/facilities to test more then certain amount per day C, how many are being quarantined at home/not able to get into crowded hospital. Figures are one thing, but theres alot of uncertainty.
