I don't like to see all those lines so close together:

Latest model forecasts for the PNW, I'm sure you all know which is the most accurate Have no clue which model will be accurate, if any of them are. IF the wind does come up, stay safe Code! Hard to prepare when it is a 50 year event!

Actually, the population increase has more to do with flooding etc than anything else. But, they can put it more water based if they desire. After 6", doesn't make much difference, at least around here.

[ [ Snip ] Got my online fix this morning watching a debate between the two people running for the position of Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction. I was a bit shocked to hear one candidate say we should be teaching kids younger than kindergarten age about transgenderism and sexuality. www.seattlechannel.org/CityInsideOut?videoid=x68356To clarify that's preschool age kids still learning to grasp and hold things, I remember taking my child to story time at the local library and there was this song where the kids would throw their Teddy Bears up in the air and try to catch them, real complex social behavior for that age. His opponent got in trouble for saying "I do not think it is developmentally appropriate to talk about gender or sexual orientation with 5 year olds." www.swweducation.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Erin-jones-response..transgender-education.pdfin the video he doubles down and says we ought to go younger than 5 year olds. A local publication www.thestranger.com/ withdrew their support for the candidate who said it was not appropriate for 5 year olds. Siiiiiigh ............

Is hurricane Matthew strong enough to disrupt the Gulf Stream? There will be a 'snail trail' of colder surface water where the hurricane has run so it will take significant energy from the surface of the Gulf Stream. However, when you consider that there is more energy in the top 3 meters or so of the ocean than in the entire atmosphere it is unlikely to be any measurable effect on the North Atlantic drift. Makes you realize how much energy is in the ocean. I am 3 miles inland of the Cat 5 storm surge and the wind is getting more interesting but like me the power still up with occasional brownout Late edit: Power out wind wild. Joe Bastardi just published this NCEP graphic on twitter - 'Matthew Induced Cooling Caribbean to off SE Coast.... It will have some effect although whether it will affect the weather at Wigan Pier is less obvious.

Local media probably kept busy though ....... Thank God it wasn't the apocalypse or something even worse like no power on Back Friday. This is why I have trouble with AGW. Climatologists want me to believe world-wide predictions for the the entire world when they can't even predict 12 hours out. Well, climatologists predict that you will get another Columbus Day storm in the future.

I see the benefits of higher CO2 and because of those benefits, I am not for crippling our economy to try and lower them.
Our regional climate forecast of 20 years ago has not happened as predicted. Ag output throughout the world has sky rocketed. This means lower stable costs of food for the masses. While I have a hard time paying my bills at current price levels, the benefits to citizens is comforting.

Well, climatologists predict that you will get another Columbus Day storm in the future. Yeah, you're right and we should not forget those murky pollsters predicting someone will win the November election. I should quantify my stance on AGW more clearly, I have some faith in the local weatherman, not the weathermen of past as they were a bit too radical, however, now that I've gotten the attention of a word sniffer somewhere out there let me add. The PNW is very difficult to forecast, we have the Misty mountains to the West, the badlands to the East, to the South Mordor and to the North the Sea of Monsters. All things considered I'm for prudent and reasonable steps and support initiatives like I-732 here in Washington state yeson732.org/I think my old Scout motto was be prepared. Should be an interesting experiment. All things being said ... your climate is not THAT good ... Texas and Mexico will be happy to take your jobs. In 20 years will it be Nirvana? Or Appalachia?

What could possibly go wrong with a model??? If God had had the money, he would have built one himself.

What do you mean our climate is not THAT good? Climatologists are suggesting it will become more like Texas and Mexico in 20 years. God forbid that I disagree with a model ... OK, a set of models. You'll probably get the Mexicans, but they'll likely leave their climateS at home. In my younger days I spent most of a year in Corvallis and several summers in Walla Walla. Kind of liked Walla Walla.
