www.nhc.noaa.gov/Peak time in the 2018 Hurricane Season there would normally be a chain of 'Invest' tropical waves coming off the West African coast. But instead we have "No tropical cyclone activity expected in the next 48 hours". 10 weeks left in the 'season' 4 weeks left for the active part, and the Atlantic will start cooling further below the trigger temperatures of around 80F down to 300ft. Oh ye of little faith.

It's been exactly one year today that my home flooded during Harvey. Joe Bastardi was warning everyone a full 48 hours in advance that Harvey could be a Cat 4 and was going to stall. A day or two later the mainstream picked up on it and the rest is history. So when it comes to Hurricanes I listen intently to the daily and weekly update on Weatherbell.com
With that being said we have been abnormally dry for the last three or so months. A good six inches from the tropics would do most of my area good (knock on wood).

Sheer map for the Atlantic Basin: NHC Sea Surface Temp anomaly Another view of anomalies mid-Atlantic It is not that the Atlantic has got warmer - it is more that the SSTs are no longer as anomalously cool.

Naut, I wish you'd should stop posting that stuff, especially since I've been blamed in advance for anything that happens from now on ....
