Ripple was the midwest offering of the 1970s. Mid-Missouri is getting some fine vineyards in recent years in the hill country bordering the Missouri River. Les Bourgeois Vineyards produces a really excellent red cooking wine. Doesn't drink too bad either.

The thing about wine is, after the 1st bottle, even Boones Farm and Ripple seemed to have the desired affect without the sordid facial expressions.
